Sciage du Berry

Identity

Since 1987, the forest experts of Sciage du Berry have regularly visited the most beautiful forests in eastern and central France in their search for the most beautiful oaks.

Tree by tree, they estimate the oaks that were selected according to a rigorous management plan drawn up to ensure the renewal of the forest.

The stave-millers of Sciage du Berry, who know the forest by heart, then shape the logs, splitting them into quarters, removing their heart, sapwood and bark to extract the most precious part of the wood, creating perfectly linear staves.

In symbiosis with nature, the four hectares stave park offers remarkable environmental conditions: the staves are stacked according to a method specific to Sciage du Berry, that leads to a better circulation of the air and the water, allowing optimal seasoning of at least 24 months before the staves are sent onwards to the cooperages.
