Identity
It was in 1989 that Richard Proctor started his repair and maintenance business for whiskey barrels. Since then, Isla Cooperage has developed a distinct status in the world of whiskey where new barrels are rarely used since restored bourbon barrels are preferred. Meeting this demand with its strong know-how has made Isla the partner of the biggest Whiskey makers for whom barrels are attached to each distillery as staves to a barrel as they seek to preserve their whiskey’s fine aromatic profile. To preserve all of their qualities for at least fifty years, the barrels of the biggest distilleries benefit from the rigorous and meticulous maintenance of Isla Cooperage.
It is well known, that it is because "we do not spoil and we love nature that we are Scottish". Hence the recycling of the barrels at the end of their lifespan into firewood or flower pots by ISLA teams.
